How to Support Women and their Families in Ukraine

We know that wherever in the world there is armed conflict, women, children, the elderly, all marginalized people are disproportionately impacted. One way we can help is to contact our Congress members and Senators to tell them that we want them to stand for democracy and provide the humanitarian assistance, as well as the security measures necessary, to help those in need, especially those most vulnerable.

We can also help by digging into our pockets and making a donation to organizations which provide assistance.

Here are reputable organizations, including a wide range of needs (humanitarian, medical for their army, etc.). Some of these I knew about personally. Some I got from a Ukrainian-American friend I trust. (Thank you, Carolyn Schott for providing this information!)

·         Ukrainian Women’s Guard-This is the one active women’s site I found.

·         Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA), Donate to Humanitarian Effort, (This is the organization that I went with to do the election observation.)

·         United Help Ukraine, Donate to the Life-saving medical supplies to Ukraine's front lines,

·         Revived Soldiers Ukraine, Donate to Treatment of the wounded and the provision of hospitals,

·         Razom for Ukraine, Donate to Tactical medical training and emergency response in Ukraine

·         Nova Ukraine, Donate to Humanitarian Aid to Ukraine

·         Sunflower of Peace, Donate to Tactical medicine

·         Come back alive – (works directly with the command and personnel of military units, purchasing infrared thermal imaging cameras, night vision goggles, hemostatics, etc)

If you’re more comfortable with a “name” international organization, here are some suggestions:

·         UNHCR

·         UNICEF

·         IRC

·         Caritas
