On Sunday, November 1st, campuses across the country will come together for the largest national campus rally against sexual violence in U.S. history. Organized by Take Back the Night (TBTN), a global movement dedicated to ending all forms of sexual violence, the rally will feature opening statements from students/community members, a keynote address, a campus march, and the reading of the National Student Mandate to End Campus Rape Culture. The Mandate calls for enforceable campus policies with named responsibilities, deadlines, data transparency, consequences, trauma-informed training, and improved reporting systems.
The rally comes at a critical moment: amid the Cornell “Jane Doe” lawsuit, new federal Title IX rollbacks limiting protections for survivors, and a national surge of survivors speaking out. No Seattle campus has registered yet, but 26 campuses nationwide already have. Seattle NOW encourages members to support this effort!
